In a remarkable display of compassion and commitment to healthcare, the Bowen Association of Medical Students (BAMS) successfully held its 8th edition of Free Medical Outreach on Friday, June 6, 2025. This annual event has become a beacon of hope for the people of Ogbomoso, providing them with an opportunity to assess their health status and prioritize their well-being.
The outreach program, which commenced at 9:00 am at the entrance of Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, attended to approximately 100 individuals that benefited from medical services. The medical services provided included vital sign checks, eye tests, and laboratory investigations such as blood glucose and hepatitis screening. The event was a testament to the dedication of BAMS in promoting healthcare awareness and providing essential medical services to the community.
One of the highlights of the program was the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination administered to 120 Bowen students at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department. This initiative underscores BAMS’ commitment to preventive healthcare and empowering students with knowledge and protection against vaccine-preventable diseases.
