BUTH Welcomes New Staff

In the quest to maintaining a high standard of care, the Management of the Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso organized a day orientation for its newly recruited staff, with the theme “From Entry to Impact: Building a Responsive and Responsible Workforce”.

The orientation program held on Wednesday, 13th August, 2025 at the George Green Auditorium, BUTH was aimed at equipping new employees with the knowledge, values and skills needed to deliver quality healthcare services and uphold the institution’s standard. The program commenced with an opening prayer by Rev. Adeyemo.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. S. A. Adegoke in his welcoming remarks, warmly welcome everyone present and congratulated the new recruited staff for being successful following the recruitment process. He urged them to see their individual roles not merely as a job, but as a calling to serve humanity. He noted that BUTH is a family of God and a hospital that takes care of its patients with not just their heads and hands but with their whole hearts. He added that BUTH is a different environment guided and controlled by the spirit of God, so everyone is expected to treat their patients according to the teaching of Christ. Prof. Adegoke urged everyone to learn maximally in the program, and uphold the teaching for their development.

The orientation featured three key presentations: “Delivering Quality Care”, “Workplace Ethics and Attitude,” and “Faith and Service.” The sessions addressed the importance of clinical competence, ethical conducts, positive attitudes, workplace relationships and integrating faith-based values into daily service delivery.

The Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Y. T. Olasinde while speaking on the first topic, “Delivery Quality Care” stated that BUTH was established as a mission hospital to deliver a quality care. She defined quality care as a constant delivery of safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable care. She encouraged the newly recruited staff to embrace the hospital mission of delivering compassionate, patient-centered care and to consistently strive for excellence.

The Director of Administration, Mr. S. O. Oladejo spoke on the topic “BUTH & You: Workplace Ethics and Attitude”. He emphasized on the importance of maintaining ethical standards and fostering positive attitudes in our daily work at the hospital. His presentation buttressed that “it takes a person to destroy a group” but urged everyone not to be a that person.  He encouraged the newly recruited staff to develop a positive mindset and work in hand with other members of their departments for the growth of the hospital. He adviced the new employees to develop themselves to grow and refused to be stagnated in their career journey. Mr Oladejo mentioned that the program was organized not only to familiarize the new employees with hospital policies and expectation but to also inspire a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to the well-being of patients. He also mentioned some of the responsibilities of the management in ensuring the well-being of the members of staff.

The Chaplain, Rev’d I. S. Akinwale-Akinsola gave insights on the third topic “Faith and Service” where he described the hospital as a living testimony of God’s faithfulness and human obedience. He said the hospital was built on decades of prayers, sacrifices and dedications by those who came before now. He urged the new employees to see the hospital as a treasure in their hands and be good Stewards, Servants, Ambassadors of Christ and promoter of the hospital’s image.

The event included an interactive session, where participants asked questions and genuine answer were provided.

The program was graced by the Top Management Committee members, Head Of Departments and members of Administrative Department, and the program was concluded with a closing prayer by Pastor Okorie.
