In accordance to hospital’s commitment to community health education and support, the management of Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso on Monday, 25th August 2025, shared a valuable insight on breastfeeding with the Baptist Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) during their ongoing Conference in Session held at Baptist Beulah Centre, Ogbomoso.
The talk aimed to empower women with knowledge on breastfeeding benefits, practices and tips for successful breastfeeding experience. The Deputy Head of Nursing Services, Mrs. M.O. Taiwo while presenting the health talk highlighted the importance of breastfeeding for maternal and child health. She cited evidence that breastfeeding reduces the risk of breast and ovarian cancers in mothers and protects against infections and allergies in children. Also, she noted that breastfeeding is one of the most effective ways of ensuring child health and survival, and urged the expectant and nursing mothers to carry out exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life for their babies.
The short educative talk buttressed on the natural process of providing nutrition to infants and other benefits to good health.
