Tuesday, 13th May 2025 was a remarkable day for an astute professional, who was a former Medical Director of the Baptist Medical Centre, now Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso and Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Child Health. A valedictory service was organized by Bowen University, Iwo in honor of Dr. D. A. Gbadero to celebrate his meritorious contributions and impacts in the services of the University and Hospital.
Commenting on the valedictorian, the Provost, College of Health Sciences, Bowen University Iwo, Prof O.T. Awotunde took the guests down the memory lane by describing Dr. Gbadero as a beacon of hope noting his relationship with him spanned over three decades. He confirmed that Dr. D.A. Gbadero had served the hospital diligently and treated his patients with compassion.
The Chief Medical Director, Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, Prof. Samuel A. Adegoke commended Dr. D. A. Gbadero who is also the President, Oyo State Chamber of Commerce for his exceptional teaching, training, mentorship, holistic and uncommon approach to the profession during his years of contributing to the stability of the hospital.
Dr. Gbadero’s delivers a valedictory lecture titled ‘Value Addition Principles and Child Healthcare Services.’ In line with his significant contributions to child healthcare services, he emphasized on the importance of value addition in healthcare.
The valedictorian’s first visit to the hospital was on 30th May 1979. He has mentored students and young professionals in the field of paediatrics and has published numerous research papers in reputable journals on paediatric care and health. Dr. Gbadero used the lecture to share his experience and expertise, reflect on his career, offer insights and wisdom, and marking the end of his fulfilled career at the Bowen University, Iwo and Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso. It was also an opportunity for him to acknowledge his teachers, senior colleagues, staff, students and family members for standing by him all through the journey.
The well attended valedictory programme was not just a celebration of an achiever committed to improving child healthcare services but a fitting culmination of a remarkable career dedicated to advancing healthcare. The hospital management, staff, students and well-wishers extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. D. A. Gbadero for his tireless dedication, selfless service, commitment to excellence and compassion which has inspired countless individuals.
